Prehistoric Bison with Head Turned
This representation of a bison licking its flank is from the Paleolithic period, around 12000 B.C. It was found at Tursac in Dordogne, and is an example of a flattened sculpture in the round, in that the thickness of the object does not correspond to reality. The original is made from reindeer antler and can be found at Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Musee des Antiquites nationales. This certified reproduction by RMN and the Louvre Workshop is made from resin, clear base, and measures 4.5H x 3.5L x 1.5W (same size as original). The Louvre Workshop is world renown for its high fidelity reproductions and superior molding techniques. 5635 $57
