Brancusi's The Kiss
Simple is beautiful. Look closer as these two young lovers embrace in a kiss. As one of the most influential sculptors of the 20th century, Constantin Brancusi preferred the technique of carving in stone and reducing natural forms to near-abstract simplicity. His work in both stone and bronze concentrated on variations of a small number of themes--heads, birds, and this renowned couple embracing, The Kiss (1916). This licensed reproduction (9”H) from the Philadelphia Museum of Art is made from compound stone with an aged stone finish. 3358, $69

Brancusi's the Kiss Ornament
Adapted from the sculpture The Kiss (1916) by Constantine Brancusi (French b. Romania, 1876-1957). This hand-painted ornament is based on the sensuous stone sculpture by Brancusi in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This piece is the fourth version of The Kiss, on of several that the artist carved through his long career, and it is considered to be the most geometric of all. The sculpture is divided vertically down the middle. The horizontal position of the arms, the joint mouths, and the single arc of the two hairlines present a powerful unified whole. The Kiss is regarded as perhaps the quintessential representation of love in the twentieth-century art. Made in Poland exclusively. Measures 4”H x 1.75”W x 1.5”L. 5688, $41

Brancusi Sleeping Muse Earrings
One of the most emblematic works of Constantin Brancusi was the Sleeping Muse 1909-10. The sculpture illustrated the simplified form of a female head, egg-shaped, lying on its side made from marble. Her smooth surface and softly modeled features have a simplicity that is iconic. She appears to be in the sweetest state of reverie. Here this modernist sculpture is reproduced as a pair of pierced wire earrings with gentle muses dangling. They evoke a peaceful state in a modern way.
Brancusi Sleeping Muse Earrings are made from brass and measure 3/8"H x 1/4"W each. 6352, $24.95
